Living in Naples
Naples is the polished centerpiece of Southwest Florida — a Gulf-front city where the walkable downtown blocks of Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South run nearly to the sand, and where the greater area's roughly ninety golf courses have earned it the nickname Golf Capital of the World. The lifestyle is finished and service-rich: galleries, sidewalk dining, the Artis—Naples cultural campus, Waterside Shops, and beaches that stay soft and white year-round at Lowdermilk Park, Clam Pass and the avenue ends of Old Naples.
Housing spans one of the widest ranges in Florida, from Port Royal estates among the state's most expensive addresses to attainable condos and bundled-golf communities along the corridors east of US 41, with acreage living in Golden Gate Estates farther out. Retirees and seasonal residents anchor the market, joined by growing numbers of families and remote professionals.
Practical notes for movers: RSW airport is about 40 minutes north and Naples Municipal Airport handles general aviation in town. Season runs January through April, when traffic and reservations both thicken. The historic Naples Pier is being rebuilt — construction began in January 2026 with completion targeted for late 2027 — while the beach around it stays open. Coastal buyers should budget for flood and wind insurance and ask about elevation on any home west of US 41.
