Bonita Bay Group opened Shadow Wood in 1998 as the largest village inside The Brooks. The official Shadow Wood Community Association describes 1,481 homes among 34 neighborhoods, 85 lakes, 350 acres of preserves, and 13 miles of paths, with no high-rises. Product runs from coach homes and condominiums through villas to custom estate houses. Shadow Wood Country Club is a separate member-owned club (since 2010) with three 18-hole courses — North and South (originally Bob Cupp, renovated by Rees Jones) on the Estero campus and The Preserve (Arthur Hills, also Jones-renovated) beside Estero Bay Preserve. Official course cards: North 7,116 yards 73.9/131, South 7,190 74.7/130, Preserve 6,686 73.9/147. Golf and Lifestyle memberships are optional; the club states a golf waitlist and resident priority on that list.
