The Colony is Pelican Landing's equity country-club village: a low-density Jerry Pate eighteen, a 275-member golf cap, and the same private-island beach and marina the rest of Pelican Landing already pays for through the master HOA.
Westinghouse Communities launched The Colony at Pelican Landing in 1999 as Phase II of the larger Pelican Landing master plan. The member-owned club opened its Jerry Pate championship course and clubhouse to forty founding members in 2001; the course was resurfaced tee-to-green in Platinum Paspalum in 2017 and the clubhouse interior was redone in 2018. Golf membership is capped at 275 with an eight-day tee-time window and no Chelsea system. Sports membership is a separate non-golf (limited-golf) tier. Colony owners also belong to Pelican Landing Community Association, so the 34-acre island beach, 12-court tennis center, marina, and other PLCA amenities are already in the master assessment; club dues buy the Pate course, club dining, six Har-Tru courts, fitness, spa, and resort pool. Neighborhoods include estate enclaves (Bellagio, Messina, and others) plus mid- and high-rise towers such as Altaira, Cielo, Treviso, and the newer Infinity. Demographics are ZIP 34134.
